Did any of us ever enjoy meetings?
by stephanie61092 inthis is a legitimate question.
did any of us ever find real joy in being at the meetings?
did any of us ever finish a meeting and think "i feel so enriched"?

I remember one time when the public speaker didn't show up and the overseer had the bright idea of having a two hour Watchtower study. I mean it was boring and drawn out over an hour, can you imagine anything more boring than a two hour Watch Crap Study? Now that is two hours of my life I won't get back. -

Thinking back I can never say I really enjoyed attending the meetings. It was more of a chore, duty that we had to attend. Toward the end I didn't even hear a word of what they were saying as my brain was turned off. -

The people are mobilizing Mr Drumpf
by Simon inprotesters shut down a trump rally.
massive numbers of people are out in chicago and have shut his event down.
there were scuffles inside the event.. despite his lame attempt to pretend the violence he instigates is nothing to do with him it's clear that it is as the cnn quotes during the last event showed only too well.. this doesn't happen at anyone else's events - candidates have even given up the stage to protesters, not called for them to be beaten and punched.. trump is an ugly person and this is just a small taste of what a future under his rule would be like.. shame on the gop for not kicking his ass out.

With statements like "I would like to punch that guy in the face" I just knew with the hateful rhetoric by Donald Trump he was just stirring things up. He better back it off a bit before someone gets gravely injured and killed. -

OKAY, GAME OVER! The number one reason the New Testament amounts to bunk
by Terry infor me, the dead giveaway is this.
jesus wrote nothing.. stop and think about that.. if jesus were the authentic messiah, his ministry would not simply be local.. his instructions, his mission, the details of his teachings would be too precious to risk leaving it in the hands of "men unlettered (illiterate) and ordinary (blue-collar yokels).".
jesus, were he the one and only hope of mankind, would be absolutely certain to write down with great simplicity and specificity the exact owner's manual necessary to rescue mankind.. never happened!.

Most of the New Testament was written by Paul who never personally met Jesus and this is what most of Christian beliefs are based on. -

What's the point?
by punkofnice ini mean, i don't want to be miserable or anything, but what's the bloody point of it all?.
since i left the watchtower cult, i have come to realise that god cannot possibly exist...and if a god exists...god is indifferent to humankind as the least.. in 100 years time i'll be gone.
kaput.

I understand where you are coming from as I went through much the same feelings 40 years ago when I realized that the WT was not the truth and that this life is all their is.
What I believe is we really don't know what is to come after this life. I once heard it said that if space and time is eternal. That there could be infinite number of parallel universes. Who knows where we go from here?
What I have learned is to live life to the fullest and live each day as it could be your last day. Learn to come to terms with your mortality, as if you don't you will never be able to fully enjoy this life as you have it as a gift.

Why Do Intelligent People Believe in God?
by cantleave inone of the most common thing thrown at atheists is - lots of intelligent people believe in god.
this darkmatter 2525's video is an excellent explanation as to why very logical people possess religious belief systems.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y201qzddzbg.

My conclusion is I do not believe in god because when it comes right down to it, believing in a god is all about "blind" faith. When theologist can't explain something they throw up the faith thing. -

Narcissistic personality disorder and the dubs
by purrpurr ini've recently started to research npd.
having identified several of my family members as having it ( no wonder we're such a ¿***#@**!!!!
up family)there's huge similarities between the borg and individual members of the cong as well i've noticed.the over whelming love of self, the need to believe in a grandiose fictional version of themselves, always striving for more power and wealth, being unable to stand any criticism, and then there's the manipulation of the victims too.i could be wrong i guess but what thoughts do you guys have about it?

Once you know the signs, they are easier to spot. If you can't avoid contact, it's helpful to know 'who' and 'what' you're dealing with . : )
I have learned a long time ago how to spot the signs and I do avoid those types. This acquaintance I speak of was someone that I got stuck with after my mom passed away and I felt a little obligation because of owing it to my mom. I recognized that she was a passive-aggressive, narcissistic type of person a long time ago. I know it would not end well as Like I mentioned you could not say NO to her. So the last straw was about a month ago she asked me to come over and do her a favor. That afternoon she phoned me and asked if I was coming over. I nicely explained that I could come over for about an hour but i had a previous commitment that I was going out to do something with another friend. She just said well fine forget it and hung up on me. (The passive-aggressive coming out.) This was the finale straw as this isn't the first time she has done this crap. Then the next day she leaves me a big long telephone message about how I let her down etc. No apology or anything. So like I said this was the finale straw and I cut out all communications with her. So now she knows that she is not going to get her own way and as a last desperation she starts getting real nasty. That is when she starts pulling up things I supposedly did twenty years ago, that she knows nothing about and starts threatening me. Just an ugly bitch and I am glad she is out of my life once and for all.

It's one of the things I resent (for lack of a better word) the most - that they made the child that was me, see my classmates as 'ruled by Satan'. They steal your childhood, in more ways than one. xx
I grew up in the 60's and was brain washed into thinking the "worldly" children were not as good as I was as they were wicked people and would be destroyed at Armageddon. I do not blame my parents as they were brain washed into the cult but I put all the blame where it should be on the cult leadership.
I never had a normal childhood as we were never allowed to have any extra activities out side of the organization. We could not celebrate the holidays or play sports, as that would take us away from the studies. It is hard enough for children to grow up let alone make them feel even more different. The might as well stuck a kick me sign on our backs. Anyway I got through it and have never being happier that I am no longer part of that mind controlling cult.

Talesin, Those are good points and pretty much covers that acquaintance to a tee. She had a sense of self importance that she expected me to drop everything just to do her a favor. She has a sense of entitlement that you couldn't say NO to her. She lacked empathy for others, as not one has gone through what I have gone through. "Shows arrogant, haughty [rude and abusive] behaviors or attitudes." I notice she did not just act that way to me but to everyone she came in contact with. I hated to go for coffee with her as she treated the servers badly and could be very rude to them over hardly anything.
